Police have offered a cash reward of Sh500,000 to anyone with information leading to the arrest of assailants who raided Booker police station in Mumias, Kakemega and stole fire arms.
The National Police Service in a statement has assured that the information will be handled with confidence and informers secured.
The information may be given to any Police Station, Directorate of Criminal Investigation office or officers and through our Free Toll lines 999,112,911.
On 23rd day of November 2016, unknown number of criminals armed with dangerous weapons, robbed Booker Police Patrol Base in Mumias West SubCounty, and made away with 7 G3 rifles and several ammunitions.
In the course of the robbery, the criminals critically injured a Police office on duty, who was admitted and is now recovering in the hospital.
Immediate operation was instituted with the aim of recovering the firearms and ammunitions as well as bringing the culprits to book.
At the same time, the Inspector General has directed and ordered for expeditious institution of investigations on complaints against any excesses by the Police during the operation.
“Any member of public, violated or ill-treated in any manner, is asked to lodge official complaint for purposes of investigations” read a statement by IG Joseph Boinnet .
He assured that any police officer found culpable will face severe disciplinary action that include arraignment in court and dismissal from the service.
