Reigning Champion Fatuma Zarika says she is confident of retaining her title against Zambia’s Catherine Phiri in a World Boxing Council, WBC, Super Bantam Weight title fight on Friday at KICC, Nairobi.
The bout will be preceded by four other undercard bouts.
Zarika beat Phiri in December 2017 to win the title.
A win for Zarika who returned to the country last weekend after a one month training stint in Liverpool will help her retain the title for the second time after she saw off Mexican challenger Yamileth Mercado last year.
In other bouts Tanzania’s Hassan Mwakinyo and veteran Argentine Sergio ‘El Tigre’ Gonzalez will battle it out in the ten round nontitle super welterweight title.
Kenya’s Rayton Okwiri will take on Pascal Bruno with Okwiri seeking to maintain his undefeated run of four wins and a draw.
The boxing extravaganza sponsored by SportPesa will be beamed live by KBC Channel One to a global audience starting at 8 pm local time.
