Kenya’s top seed and three time champion Ismael Changawa will face 17 year old Albert Njogu in the semi-finals of the ongoing Kenya Open tennis championship at the Nairobi Club.
Changawa trounced Burundi’s Issa Chuma by two straight sets to book a ticket to the last four.
Changawa who is having a good tournament came into the match focused to extend his dominance in the court.
Despite a slow start he recovered as the game progressed to easily see off his Burundi opponent Issa Chuma 6-2, 6-2 and will now face Njogu in the last four.
Njogu registered an easy 6-1 6-1 victory over Uganda’s Boris Aguma in the last eight to qualify for the semifinals.
Another Kenyan Ibrahim Kibet also advanced to the semi-finals after beating Tanzania’s Frank Menard.
The second seed will now face Burundi’s Abdul Shakur who trounced Kenya’s Petty Andanda by two sets to love.
In the ladies semi-finals pairing Kenya’s top seed Shufaa Changawa will face Madagascar’s Narindra Ranaivo while Angela Okutoyi will face Alicia Owegi.
The winner in the men’s category will walk away with 90,000 shillings while 80,000 shillings will be awarded to the top lady player.
