Chaos in Kisii ahead of planned visit by DP William Ruto

A commotion ensued in Kisii town between rival factions of motorcyclists over a planned fundraiser to be presided over by Deputy President William Ruto later in the day.

Ruto’s is expected in South Mugirango to preside over a fundraiser in aid of youth and women groups, a visit that has generated political tension in the County.

The two factions of boda boda associations claim they were not involved in the planning of the meeting with their leaders saying they must be consulted especially since some members of their association will benefit from the fundraiser.

The visit has not gone down well with a section of elected leaders in Kisii with Local MP Syvanus Osoro accusing Governor James Ongwae of emptying truckloads of sewage at Gusii where DP is scheduled to hold the event.

Armed youths have taken control of the town ahead of the visit with youths aligned to Osoro squaring it out with youths aligned to Governor Ongwae.
