The latest Africa Concours D’elegance entry is a 1969 land rover.
Regular Africa Concours d’Elegance entrant Gary Farrant found a derelict 1969 Series II Land Rover at a farm in Meru early in 2020. The classic 4 X 4 is currently undergoing a complete rebuild with the intention of contesting the 2021 Concours D’elegance scheduled for September 26th at the Nairobi Racecourse. This will be the 50th in the annual series organized by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club and is the classiest event on the Kenya motor sport calendar.
The vehicle will be listed in the class for classic utility vehicles which will be the first cars on the Total inspection ramp and the judging line in front of the grandstands. Enthusiasts like Gary Farrant enter the Concours competition to compete in the 20 classes for all makes and types of cars and motorcycles.
The competitors have the opportunity to have their machines assessed by highly experienced officials who analyse the standards of preparation and presentation of the Concours cars, SUVs, pick-ups and motorcycles. Competitors also have the opportunity to win the overall awards and class prizes. There are also awards for the most elegant car and bike and prizes for the highest placed machines of various makes.
We look forward the 2021 Concours D’elegance edition.
