Chinese arrested over racial remarks deported

A Chinese national who was captured on video making racist comments against Kenyans has been deported.

Liu Jiaqi was arrested Wednesday night by security officers after the Immigration Department revoked his work permit.

Confirming the arrest and deportation, Immigration Principal Secretary Major General Retired Gordon Kihalangwa told KBC on phone that the Liu Jiaqi was arrested and deported.

“LIU JIAQI a Chinese National who was arrested due to his RACISM remarks has been DEPORTED”,  tweeted the Immigration Department.

The department had earlier denied online reports that Liu Jiaqi was on his way back to China saying he was still being processed for deportation.

“Chinese National by the Name Liu Jiaqi who was captured on video yesterday using abusive words has been arrested. His work permit has been canceled and will be deported on racism grounds. Kindly ignore tweets in regards to the Chinese National who was captured in the video being abusive. Liu Jiaqi is being processed for deportation, and not deported as reported by Alai. That’s a lie” said Immigration.

The Chinese national was captured on video Wednesday using abusive words against Kenyans and their leadership.

In the video clip that went viral, the man is heard referring to Kenyans in derogatory terms.

This generated angry reactions from Kenyans on social media who demanded his immediate arrest and deportation.
