The Church has lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for revising the containment measures in 5 Counties that had been place under lockdown.
According to the Church and Clergy Association of Kenya, the measures have proved effective as witnessed by the significant drop in positivity rate.
“We welcome the partial opening of places of worship. In future we expect broader consultations on matters involving the Church to mitigate the negative impacts closure of Churches has on members and Kenyans at large.”
CCAK Chairperson Bishop Hudson Ndeda said the decision to enforce stringent containment measures among them cessation of movement in and out of the five Counties which had been declared disease infected, proved worth the sacrifice.
Ndeda said the Church will continue to observe the laid down protocols such as maintaining social distance, wear facemasks and sanitizing to support the Government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
Bishop Ndeda further urged politicians to learn from the Church and conduct their meetings online saying political rallies shouldn’t be encouraged.
On School reopening, Ndeda urged parents and teachers to ensure the safety of the children by reminding them on preventive measures.
He also emphasized on the safety of the Grade 4 pupils who will reopen School in July saying their well-fare must be safe guarded.
