Religious leaders across the country are calling on the electoral body IEBC to ensure it conducts a free, fair and credible poll that will guarantee the country the much needed peace after the election.

The leaders who continue to conduct inter-denomination prayers that are geared towards a peaceful nation before, during and after the elections are also calling on Kenyans to maintain peace during this electioneering period.

Meeting under the banner “peace is possible”, the leaders who held prayers at the Kenya Assemblies of God in Makadara pleaded with Kenyans to be tolerant and embrace unity in diversity as the clock ticks fast towards the August 8th polls.

The leaders also reached out to the political class, urging them to be ambassadors of peace during this critical time when the country is heading to the polls.

And with a section of religious leaders having been accused of taking political sides, those present urged their compatriots not to allow their political affiliations to divide their flock and the country as a whole.

This was one among a number of religious meetings across the country with an emphasis on peace and tolerance during the election period.
