Construction of stadia in seven counties to kick off

The construction of the seven stadia as promised by the Government will kick off in two weeks time.

That is according to Sports Kenya chairman Fred Muteti, who was speaking at Kasarani Stadium during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Sports Kenya and the seven counties within which the stadia will be put up.

It is a pledge made to Kenyans by the government since it took office in 2013 and is now keen on fulfilling with Sports Kenya revealing that the stadia will be ready for use in 8 months time.

Besides hosting the local competitions, the stadia are also expected to attract International tournaments in the country.

The selected counties are; Nyeri, Uasin Gichu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Makueni, Kiambu, Tharaka Nithi and Marsabit counties, with the construction set to start simultaneously.

Besides the seven, Sports Kenya has assured Kenyans that the government still intends on building three main stadia in Nairobi, Mombasa and Eldoret.
