Mandera County in partnership with World Food Programme has embarked on an ambitious programme by introducing a school feeding programme and learning materials to schools across the county.
The meal, fortified porridge, worth Ksh. 79 million is set to benefit 27,000 learners across 312 ECDE centers across county.
The meal will be delivered on termly basis.
Mandera Governor Mohamed Adan Khalif while launching ECD policy and meals guideline said his administration is fully prepared to support all schools across the county.
He added that the programme seeks to reduce the effects of the ravaging hunger and boost malnutrition hence improve the quality of education offered.
World Food Programme Country Director Laurene Landice promised that the agency will continue supporting the programme in Mandera county.
