Defense lawyers claim Monica Kimani was living with a man

Defense lawyers in the murder trial of Monica Kimani have claimed that slain businesswoman Monica Kimani was living with a man before she was murdered.

Defense lawyer Hassan Nandwa in his argument pointed to men’s clothes found at Monica’s house in Lamuria Gardens as an indication that Monica could have been living with a man prior to her death.

Justice James Wakiaga also allowed the media to cover the trial on condition that they do not breach court reporting code of conduct.

Jackie Maribe’s lawyer Katwa Kigen questioned why the prosecution left out photos of food on the deceased’s table in the evidence report presented in court.

Scene of Crime investigator Jennifer Jepkosgei also clarified to the court that the ammunition recovered was not in Maribe’s house but in the ceiling of Maribe’s neighbor Brian Kasaine’s house.

The defence also questioned the selective manner of collection of evidence from Monica’s house.

Joseph Irungu alias Jowie and journalist Jackie Maribe have denied killing Monica in her apartment at Lamuria Gardens on September 19, 2018.
