Hosts the Atlas Lions of Morocco beat five-time champions Cameroon 2-0, in the 2nd quarter-final of the 2025 AFCON on Friday night at the 67,000-seater Prince Moulay stadium in Rabat.

Morocco enjoyed possession in the opening 45 minutes, taking the lead in the 26th minute through Brahim Diaz’s goal following an assist from Yakoub El Kanous, the fifth goal for the Real Madrid star in the tournament.

The Indomitable Lions resumed the 2nd half recharged, showing intent of equalising with over 70% possession and attacks but were blunt in the final third.

Morocco switched to defensive tactics, and in the 68th minute, Ismael Saibari shot from close range after Abde Ezzouzuli’s cross to kill off any slim hopes for Cameroon’s comeback.

Wallid Regraqui’s men marched on to the semis, where they will meet the winner between Algeria and Nigeria on Saturday.
