Docubox is issuing grants to Kenyan filmmakers

Submit for the Docubox filmmakers grant by 20th August.

Docubox is offering grants of between $2,500 and $25,000 to filmmakers In East Africa. DOcubox is the region’s only documentary film fund and has been doing so since 2013. Each year, the organisation welcomes scores of new projects into the Docubox family, elevation many budding filmmakers. All they look for are new stories that reflect who we are, in all our diversity as Africans.

For 2021, the grants being offered are for the following film categories;

  1. Feature Length Documentary (60-90 Minutes)
  2. Short Documentaries (3-20 Minutes)
  3. Experimental Hybrid Films
  4. Short Fiction Film

Films selected will be announced by September 21st after which Docubox will assist in project and trailer development, and production.

How to apply:

You must be an independent Kenyan filmmaker first and foremost. Submissions are to be made in the Docubox portal. You will be required to attach links to your previous work(s) since novice filmmakers are not being accepted this time.
