Deputy President William Ruto on Friday intensified campaigns to enlist voters during the ongoing mass registration exercise across the country.
Ruto toured Bomet, Kericho and Nandi counties during the second-day visit of Rift Valley, Nyanza and Western regions.
The Deputy President said unless Kenyans turned out in large numbers to enlist as voters and participate in the next elections, they would not be able to elect leaders with vision and focus to take the country to the next level.
He told Kenyans not to run away from their responsibility of electing leaders who can spearhead the much-needed development and unity efforts in the country.
“You have an obligation and responsibility to participate in elections so that you elect leaders of your choice who can take the country to the next level in terms of development,” said Ruto.
He added: “As Kenyans you cannot run away from the responsibility of participating in electing a Government that has the interest of the country at heart.”
Ruto said Kenyans will have the opportunity to elect their leaders through a peaceful and democratic process come August 8 General Election.
