DPP withdraws Ksh 400M graft case against former KPLC MD Ben Chumo

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has dropped the Ksh400M graft case against former Kenya Power Managing Director Ben Chumo and 10 others for lack of evidence.

Chumo was charged in 2018 alongside the 10 Kenya Power employees; Ken Tarus, Beatrice Meso, Joshua Mutua, Abubakar Swaleh, K.P Mungai, Benson Muriithi, John Ombui, Samuel Ndirangu and Stanley Mutwiri.

The charges were in relation to supply of faulty transformers worth Ksh 400M.

Also charged were directors of Muwa Trading Company Ltd, James Njenga Mungai, Grace Wanjira Mungai and John Mungia, the company alleged to have supplied the transformers.

The DPP, however, withdrew case against the three directors in March 2022.
