Former Devolution Principal Secretary Peter Mangiti was Friday arrested by ethics and anti-corruption commission officers alongside 12 other suspects in connection with the 791 million shillings NYS scandal.
The suspects were later with conspiracy to commit economic crimes, failure to comply with the procurement law as well as abuse of office.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption commission has launched a major manhunt for 7 NYS scam suspects among them former NYS senior director Adan Harakhe and former senior director in the Devolution ministry Noor Hassan with reports indicating they have gone into hiding.
Commission CEO Harakhe Waqo confirmed that former Devolution cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru is not among those charged but former Principal Secretary Peter Mangiti was among those arrested and arraigned in Court on Friday.
Conspicuously missing from the list of 24 suspects are key suspects Ben Gethi and Josephine Kabura but Waqo said investigations are still ongoing and more suspects will be arraigned in court.
The commission has also invited Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi to shed light on the theft of over 50 million shillings from the County accounts.
