Eastern Mau Settlement Scheme squatters cry foul over evictions

Over 10,000 squatters drawn from Eastern Mau Settlement Scheme are crying foul over the impending evictions in the second of phase of Mau reclamation.

The squatters claim that the government has failed to issue them with title deeds despite having paid statutory fees.

It is a grim reality for the about 10,000 squatters who have called Eastern Mau Settlement Scheme home for years with the government planning to have them evicted from the area in the second phase of Mau forest reclamation.

The squatters alleging an attempt by the government to hoodwink them claiming to have paid requisite fees to have them legally own the land.

Chair David Burure claiming to have written to the National Land Commission (NLC) over the same and even acquired alternative land in Rumuruti.

The squatters saying they will stop at nothing until their concerns are addressed.
