Kenya Wildlife Service is jointly working with Kenya Defence Forces, National Youth Service, Kenya Forest Service, County Government of Taita Taveta, conservation partners and the community to extinguish the latest fire in Tsavo West National Park.
Ground and aerial teams have been deployed to deal with the fire which began at the Sheikdam area Saturday afternoon and is suspected to have been lit by arsonists.

A statement from KWS says police are tracking down the suspected arsonists.
KWS has also clarified that the government has deployed resources through its various agencies to contain the fire soon and no NGO, independent groups, or individuals should fundraise to support fire-fighting efforts.
Meanwhile, the public, and especially neighbours to National Parks and Reserves have been advised to avoid lighting fires close to these areas.
