Eight NYS scandal suspects out on bail

Eight out of 11 people involved in the 791 million  National Youth Service NYS money laundering scandal have been released on a 300,000 shillings cash bail  each or a bond of 1million shillings and a surety of similar amount.

The eight pleaded not guilty to 15 counts of money laundering charges. The eight who appeared before chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo are accused of committing the crimes ranging from purchase of vehicles to transfers of millions of shillings to different bank accounts on diverse dates between 1st of DEC 2014 to 30th of Sept 2015.

Three of the accused persons were not present in court to plead to the charges.

Charity Wangui and Patrick Ogolla were however excused due to their   ill health while the court heard that Jedida Wangari is yet to be arrested after the court issued a warrant of arrest due to her continuous absconding of the court proceedings.
