Eight suspected gang members arrested in Kisauni after attack

Eight criminal suspects have been arrested in Kisauni and Nyali following an attack which left 12 people injured with eight of them being hospitalized with severe cuts and broken limbs.

In a fresh wave of continued gang terror, witnesses say the victims suffered deep cuts on their heads, hands, legs and other parts of their bodies as one of the victims even had his leg chopped off by the criminals.

The criminal gang christened “86 Battalion” is believed to be behind the deadly attacks that have left residents living in fear.

Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) for Kisauni Sub-County Cyrus Gatobu said a joint manhunt for the criminals was conducted by police officers from the Kisauni and Nyali sub-counties.

Police have since traced the gang to their hideout in Mwandoni.

An early morning shootout at the gang’s hideout saw some of the criminals fleeing with gunshot wounds.

At the same time, Nyali MP Mohamed Ali is now calling the government to equip the police stations in the area within his constituency with vehicles to enable them to carry out daily security patrols.

Residents are now calling on the government to also deploy security in the area to wipe out the criminal gang.

The suspects are expected to appear in court on Monday.
