Elections: Lobby groups commend Kenyans for being peaceful

A group of civil society organizations has commended Kenyans for conducting themselves peacefully during the elections.

They further called on all political candidates and their supporters to allow the tallying process to proceed constitutionally towards its logical conclusion and urged all aggrieved parties to go to court and seek legal redress once the process is over.

They have however raised the alarm over the increase in what they termed as deliberate disinformation and misinformation and called on the public to verify all information before sharing it on social media.

The  joint statement, by the civil society was read by Gladwell Otieno, the Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Open Governance.

Meanwhile, Elections Observation Group (ELOG) has called upon all Kenyans to remain calm as the country awaits the official declaration of the presidential results as tallying is still underway.

They urged IEBC to continue being inclusive, transparent, and accountable to the people and the stakeholders involved.
