Elijah Kamunya fired on allegations of abuse of office

Laikipia County Revenue Board Chief Executive Officer Elijah Kamunya has been interdicted with immediate effect.

Kamunya who has served in the office for the last three years was fired on allegations of abuse of office.

His interdiction followed a resolution made in a meeting held by Senior County administration officers.

Finance and County Planning Chief Executive member Murungi Ndai said investigation into various allegations that led to the officer being shown the door will commence immediately.

Kamunya is accused being behind the issuance of fake receipts and non remittance to the relevant accounts of some county revenue.

Those who attended the meeting included the county’s chief of staff Karanja Njora, CECs in charge of Trade and Tourism Nicholas Biwott Tirop, his counterpart for Roads and Infrastructure Joseph Shuel, Water and Natural Resources Njenga Kahiro as well as acting county Secretary Charles Ndiritu.
