At this point, Elsa isn’t even trying
Beyonce once said “Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper” and no one is a better example of that sentiment than Elsa Majimbo. After having recently inked a deal with the fashion brand Valentino, Elsa has now received an Icy Park package from global icon Beyonce, Addidas and Ivy Park.

Elsa’s rise to fame is notable because she was not welcomed graciously into Kenya’s entertainment scene. During the first half of quarantine, 19-year old Elsa rose to global fame by making short sarcastic video clips for fun while eating crisps. As she continued to be applauded internationally, she was made fun of and bullied online by some Kenyans.
However, over the weekend, many Kenyans came to Elsa’s defence applauding her success (her new deal with fashion house Valentino is what sparked the conversation) and condemning the gatekeepers that didn’t believe in her influence.
I pray more Kenyans pull an Elsa. They jump over the gatekeepers, tastemakers with no taste and mid-level managers on power trips. There's so much talent in this country, we can't let it be defined by people who only got a job because they had 3K followers in 2009.

Elsa is currently on the cover of Teen Vogue. She is one of the many who have received the Icy Park collection as a gift from Beyonce, including Reese Witherspoon.
