It was after a morning meeting at the Embu County Assembly that 12 of the 19 MCAs ousted the majority chief whip Margaret Lorna Kariuki on allegations of non-performance and creation of division at the assembly.
Lorna who was representing Jubilee party was replaced by deputy chief whip Morris Nyaga on an acting capacity.
Members of the Jubilee party accused Kariuki for causing in-fighting among members through propaganda on social media and disrespect to the county assembly speaker Josiah Thiriku.
According to members of the assembly, Kariuki failed to iron out issues affecting the party resulting to poor service delivery.
Kariuki has dismissing accusations leveled against her by the MCAs and has vowed to fight back.
Kariuki’s impeachment comes exactly a week after the Nairobi County Assembly voted to impeach Speaker Beatrice Elachi on accusations of misappropriation of funds among other grievances.
