Feasibility study for Nyandarua’s Malewa Dam concluded

A feasibility study conducted on the proposed Malewa Dam in Nyandarua County has established that it will not have any negative effects on Lake Naivasha.

The report indicates that Malewa Dam would not rely on rivers flowing into Lake Naivasha but instead would tap rain run-off water.

Construction of the proposed Malewa Dam has faced opposition from various quarters warning that the multi-billion shillings dam could see Lake Naivasha drying up.

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency has assured the farmers that the proposed lake would however not have any effect on Lake Naivasha.
