KBC acting Managing Director, Mr. Samuel Maina, today announced a sponsorship for an all-female team to compete in the Machakos Rallycross set for this weekend.
Mr Maina promised that KBC will continue to support several sports disciplines urged more female drivers to take up motorsport in Kenya.
The event dubbed Machakos Formula One Circuit, will be held between , 9th and 10th July, at the Machakos People Park with drivers competing over a 4.5KM loop.
Being a premiere event, the championships will jumpstart the journey for more rallies in Kenya and to promote Kenyan rally drivers. The event will see 4 cars taking off at same time with the first crew to finish being declared the winner.
The KBC team which comprises of Lisa Christoffersen as the main driver navigated by a KBC Swahili news anchor Pauline Sheghu, said they are ready to take on the challenge aiming to finish the rally.
“We have 8 more rallies ahead of us between July 2022 and 2023 and we are looking forward to participate in them.
I began my racing journey back as a young girl following my dad’s footsteps but officially began racing this year.We have also been invited to compete in the 8-day 4X4 Rebelle Rally in the Nevada dessert, USA where we will be the 1st Kenyan women team to participate using t1 first Kenyan made vehicle Mobius 3 .

“I began my journey in 2004 in GP Karting and i have participated in many races such as the Intermedia Rally and the Kenya National Rally Championship.
Am calling on more women to embrace the sport and many Kenyans to turn up at Machakos and cheer us , ‘We appreciate the support from KBC and be assured we will not let you down at the Machakos Rallycross’, Sheghu concluded.
Spectators will be charged an entrance fee to access the venue.
