The high court reinstates KU Vice Chancellor

The High Court has reinstated Paul Kuria Wainaina as the Kenya University Vice Chancellor until a petition he has filed is heard and determined.

In his ruling, justice Jacob Gakeri further directed that the position should not be declared vacant, nor his salary revoked. He further certified the matter urgent, and directed that the application be placed before any Judge on 28th July 2022 for inter partes hearing.

Prof. Wainaina filed the petition on the alleged contravention of his fundamental rights and freedoms after the University Council through Professor Crispus Kiamba purported to suspend him from his role. He claimed his purported removal from office and subsequent replacement is an attempt to unconstitutionally and unlawfully alienate and expropriate the University Land.
