Equity Bank will be aiming to win game three of the women’s basketball playoffs final to enhance their chances of bagging their maiden title when they host former champions KPA Saturday at the Nyayo national stadium gymnasium.
The best-of-five series is currently tied at 1-1 after the first two legs played last weekend at the Makande gymnasium in Mombasa City.
After losing 60-43 points in game one the bankers appeared to be out of touch but regrouped in game two to snatch a crucial 56-55 points win in overtime.
Head coach David Maina will peg his hope on former USIU and KPA shooting guard Hildah Indasi, Point guard Samba Mjomba, Mercy Wanyama and former national team captain Silalei Shani.
KPA trio Felmas Adhiambo, Yvonne Akinyi and Natalie Akinyi must rise up to the occasion as the Anthony Ojukwu’s led side targets to reclaim the league title.
Enroute to the finals, KPA saw off Cooperative Bank while Equity defeated defending champions USIU in the semifinals.
In the men’s final, favorites KPA, currently lead Co-operative Bank 2-0. The Dockers won game one 60-56 points before replicating the same performance in game two which they won 71-69 points.
KPA humbled defending champions Ulinzi while Cooperative Bank saw off Thunder in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Umoja will face Zetech in game five of the men’s basketball division one playoffs final.
