Comedian Eric Omondi yesterday shared a video of his meeting with the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Tourism Najib Balala. Sharing the video on his social media pages, Omondi was cryptic about the conversation that was had with the CS only writing “Magical KE.”

Eric is on record for being critical of the decision made by the Ministry of Tourism to appoint international Supermodel Naomi Campbell as Kenya’s international Tourism Ambassador. Sometime after her appointment, many Kenyans argued that if the Ministry was looking for an international star they should have considered if not appointed Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o.

Taking to social media on January 22 to share his thoughts, Eric wrote in part, “This year and the years to come we are not taking EXCUSES. If you say you were looking for me to give me a job but couldn’t reach me but Now you can reach me then give me the Job. Young people have been Jobless and broke in this Country for as long as we can remember. The Honarable Najib Balala is a very good friend of mine and a very honourable Gentleman. I want to take this opportunity to OFFICIALLY ASK him to give me and Lupita this MAGICAL KENYA JOB??????…We are both Extremely qualified for the Job…In 2019 alone just before the Corona Pandemic I managed to travel to 11 Countries in which i mostly performed in full Kenyan flag attire( Kenyan Athletic Uniform, See video above). Including the Biggest Comedy show in America the Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon.” (SIC – quoted as is)

Whether the Ministry of Tourism has relented and asked Omondi to join the team is yet to be seen. The Ministry has not communicated about any collaboration that might be in the works with Eric Omondi.
