More than 30 people, including those who came into contact with fake mourners who traveled with an empty coffin from Nairobi to Seka village in Karachuonyo constituency have been put under quarantine at Homa Bay Town KMTC.
The suspects have been put under quarantine after being tracked by the county health officials and security team in the ongoing war to fight the spread of Coronavirus in Homa Bay County after the region recorded its first confirmed Coronavirus case on Saturday.
Confirming the incident to KNA, Homa Bay County commissioner Yatich Kipkemei said that the suspects have been quarantined at the facility and the county health officials are yet to take their samples for test at KEMRI in Kisumu.
Kipkemei reiterated that they are still tracing more people who interacted with the victim to ensure all contacts have been quarantined.
At the same time, he called upon all persons who might have interacted with the “fake mourners” to present themselves for quarantine and testing to confirm their conditions for their own good.
The administrator further revealed that following a tip off by members of the public, they are still tracing two more persons suspected to have sneaked into the county from Nairobi on Saturday evening.
He stressed that they will not allow anybody from Nairobi to gain entry into the county for whatever reason to ensure no more cases are transported into the area.
Consequently, Kipkemei also appealed to the residents to work closely with the law enforcing agencies and health officials by giving out information on any person suspected of having travelled from Nairobi so that they can be quarantined.
