Family in Kiambu seek justice following death of daughter

A family in Kiambu County is seeking justice following the death of their daughter after delivering a baby through cesarean section at the Gatundu Level 4 hospital.

The family is accusing the doctor who operated on the late Rose Waithera Kanyingi of negligence following a post-mortem report which shows her intestines were ruptured during delivery.

They say the late Rose Waithera Kanyingi, started complaining of stomach aches soon after the procedure and were referred to Thika Level 5 hospital.

However Rose would develop breathing problems after undergoing a second operation.

A postmortem conducted on her body in the presence of an independent pathologist who is a family member and county pathologist confirmed that the caesarian section was botched.

However, Kiambu County health CEC Joseph Murega dismissed allegations of negligence.

Murega says they have also forwarded samples of tissues from the deceased body to the government laboratory for further tests.
