Kenya Broadcasting Corporation has appointed Festus Amimo as the new head of Mayienga, a radio station that broadcasts in Dholuo.
Amimo takes over from Omole Asiko who has been promoted to Chief Producer KBC Kisumu stations.
Mayienga was launched in 2011 while Amimo has been at the helm of the popular breakfast show since 2012.
“I am humbled by the appointment. It’s a testament that KBC believes in the youth. Our listeners should expect new and revamped radio content going forward,” He said.
Amimo who has close to two decades of experience in journalism, was a fans favourite in the Breakfast Show dubbed ‘Gari Mokinyi’ which highlights social and political economic issues affecting the Luo Nation.
Mayienga FM is one of the big brands of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, broadcasting on 93.5 FM in Western Kenya.
