First Lady celebrates World Water Day in Kajiado, donates water tanks to 26 schools

The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto Friday celebrated World Water Day 2024 at Kisaju Primary School in Kajiado County, where she donated water harvesting tanks to 26 primary and secondary schools in Kajiado West Constituency to enable the institutions to increase their water storage capacity.

The First Lady further committed to improving the welfare of learners by working with leaders and partners to ensure all public primary and secondary schools have sufficient clean drinking water.

This will involve, among others, the provision of water tanks, boreholes, wells, and water pans.

The First Lady underscored the importance of access to clean water in educational settings, as it directly impacted students’ health, hygiene, and academic performance.

By providing water tanks to schools, learners are relieved of the burden of water scarcity and contribute to school enrollment retention and transition, in line with the 100pc transition policy of Government.

The Celebrations event at Kisaju Primary School represented a collaborative effort by stakeholders to address water-related challenges and promote sustainable development in Kajiado County.

Other leaders present included George Risa Sunkuyia, Member of Parliament, Kajiado West Constituency, and Leah Sankaire, County Member of Parliament, Kajiado County.
