Five shortlisted to replace Isaack Hassan

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Selection Panel for the appointment of commissioners has shortlisted five applicants to be interviewed on their suitability for the chairman’s position.

This comes after the resignation of the IEBC Commissioners paving the way for a new team to be picked to oversee the 2017 General Election.

Those shortlisted for interviews are Dr John Kangu Mutakha, Roseline Odhiambo-Odede, and Margaret Wambui Ngugi Shava, David Kiprop Malakwen and David Mukii Mereka.

They will be interviewed on November 28 and 29 at County Hall.

According to the statement released by the Selection panel for the appointment of the IEBC commissioners, David Mukii Mereka  will be first to be interviewed on 28th at 10am followed by  Roseline Odhiambo-Odede  at 12 noon then Dr John  Kangu Mutakha will be interviewed at 3pm the same day.

Margaret Wambui Ngugi Shava will be interviewed on 29th at 10 am then David Kiprop Malakwen will be the last one to face the interviewing panel at 12 noon same day.

Section 6 of the IEBC Act provides that the Chairperson and the Commissioners shall be appointed for a single term of six years and shall not be eligible for reappointment and shall serve on a full-time basis.
