Football Kenya federation has unveiled a provisional squad that will represent Kenya in the forthcoming CECAFA under twenty Women event this July in Nairobi.
The list largely features players who took part in the Chapa Dimba tournament.
A squad of 36 players is set to report to a training camp this weekend at the Barclays Sports Club in Nairobi.
The squad which features among others St. Mary’s school Nuru Hensley, Bishop Njenga’s Lavenda Murumwa, Barcelona Ladies’ Jane Njeri, and Kwale Girls’ Joy King Lady, who all made the team to Spain with the Chapa Dimba All-Stars will be trimmed to 24 after the final selection is made.
In 2017, the Kenya under twenty women team took part in the World Cup qualifiers, falling to Ghana in the final qualifying round.
The Junior Starlets had breezed past Botswana in the first round winning by seven goals to one on aggregate before edging out Ethiopia by four goals to three on aggregate in the second round.
Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Sudan and neighbors South Sudan have confirmed participation in this year’s edition.
