Police in Hamisi Sub County in Vihiga County are holding a form three student from Nyang’ori Boys High School in connection with the murder of a school guard.
Confirming the incident, Hamisi Sub-County Deputy Commander Mr Joseph Kituku said that the guard was in the midst of other guards who were responding to a distress call from one of the dormitories where one of the students had turned violent and was causing disturbance.
When one of the guards attempted to approach the student and find out from him what the problem was, he confronted him and hit him on the head and fell down where continued hitting him several times before he was overpowered and arrested.
The guard was later rushed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was later transferred to the mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The incident comes barely a week after student from Kisii County attacked two teachers with a kitchen knife and injured them seriously.
The Deputy Sub-County Mr Katuku said that detectives from DCI have taken over the case and are investigative the motive behind what really inspired.
The suspect is currently under police custody.
