Form three student in Nyandarua admits assaulting his teacher

A form three student in Murichu Secondary school, Nyandarua County has pleaded guilty to assaulting his teacher.

Samuel Migwi Muigai, 20, appeared before Nyahururu Senior Resident Magistrate James Wanyanga and admitted to committing three counts as recorded in the charge sheet.

He was charged that on 18th, January 2021 he rained kicks and blows on duty teacher, James Gikonyo causing him injuries. The second account was that he caused disturbance at the school.

Migwi was also charged with damaging public property namely, a projector stand belonging to the school.

The case will be mentioned on February 12, 2021 when the court expects the probation report to be ready before sentencing. Before then the student will remain in remand.

“You have to remain in custody until the mention date so that you can be example to others with similar intention. Cases of students attacking teachers have become rampant,” Wanyanga said.

Migwi was arrested and taken to Ndaragwa police station after the principal Mr. Moses Gitahi reported the matter to police.

The victim and three other students are listed as witnesses.
