Police investigate alleged murder, suicide by KFS ranger

A 17-year-old form three boy has allegedly been killed by his friend following differences during a drinking spree in Homa Bay County.

The incident happened in a bar at Lwanda Trading Center, Kobita Location, Ndhiwa Sub-county.

Area Chief, Joash Osuju, confirmed the day scholar of a nearby Secondary School was injured and bled to death after he engaged in an altercation with a young man he was drinking with.

“After bickering for some minutes, the suspect left the bar for home from where he picked a panga, returned to the bar and pounced on the deceased with it,” said Osuju.

He said those who were nearby intervened but the suspect escaped.

The deceased sustained serious injuries on the head and was rushed to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for medication where he died of excessive bleeding soon after arrival.

Osuju said the reasons for the disagreement and the ensuing fight had not been established.

“They began bickering while drunk. We don’t know the reason which made them differ,” Osuju said.

The Administrator said he had liaised with police from Ndhiwa Police Station, who are pursuing the suspect.

“The suspect fled the village after the incident. We are working closely with the police to trace him,” Osuju added.

The Chief said the suspect who dropped out of school in class seven some years ago, has been a friend of the slain student.

The body was moved to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
