Former LSK chair Eric Mutua claims his life is in danger

Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) boss Erick Mutua has claimed that his life is in danger after his convoy was allegedly attacked by supporters of his political opponent at Maai in Mwingi East sub-county on Friday night.

Mutua has declared his interest for the Mwingi central parliamentary seat.

Speaking at Mwingi police station where he had gone to record a statement, the former LSK chair accused Mwingi police of being compromised by his opponent who is a Former Permanent Secretary in the government.

However, the former PS Gideon Mulyungi also showed up in the same police station moments after Erick Mutua had left to record a similar statement claiming that his supporters had been attacked by Mutua’s supporters.

Differences between the two aspirants have heightened political tension in Mwingi Central with each accusing the other of using violence to win support.

It remains to be seen how the Wiper party leadership will handle the matter considering that the two have already aligned themselves with the party, after area MP Joe Mutambu ditched Wiper for the Jubilee Party.
