Former Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka released on bond

Waithaka was charged alongside Grace Gitonga (former Water, Environment and Energy CECM) and Gichinga Gaiko (current chief officer for Water Environment and Energy).

Former Nyandarua Governor, Daniel Waithaka, and former county officials Kihiu Gaiko and Grace Gitonga who are facing corruption-related charges have been released on 10 million shillings bond each with surety.

The three who are facing charges over fraudulent 50 million shillings water and sewerage tender had on Thursday, last week, presented themselves to the Nyeri Regional Anti-Corruption Commission office where they were arrested.

However former Water Executive, would have to spend another night in custody after she failed to secure a surety.

The case will be mentioned on August 20th, 2018 to allow prosecution to furnish the defense with all necessary documents.

Meanwhile, three gangsters who five months ago were reportedly found staying at a home in Matuu belonging to a prominent businessman Michael Matheka stole household goods worth 650,000 were jailed for between three and five years without an option of a fine by a Kithimani court.

Jacob Mutinda Kilonzo, Kelvin Mutie Mutunga and Solomon Mutuku were found guilty before Kithimani Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe and send behind bars.

On 10th March this year the suspects were found guilty of handling stolen goods in Matuu town.
