Former Nyeri County Assembly Speaker John Kaguchia has trounced the incumbent Anthony Kiai in the Mukurwe-ini parliamentary race after garnering 25804 votes against Kiai’s 10,292.
Mukurwe-ini constituency Returning Office Dr. Josphat Mwololo confirmed that Kaguchia emerged victorious after getting over 75% of the total registered voters.
Kaguchia who spoke immediate after being issued his certificate said to on his agenda is to revive and improve health care and education in Mukurwe-ini.
Activities at the center will resume Thursday morning where announcing and declaring of winners of the county assembly member will take place.
Born in Kiuu village in Mukurwe-ini constituency, Nyeri County, he is the third born child of the late Richard Kaguchia and Mercy Wangechi.
Before becoming Nyeri Speaker in 2017, Kguchia was working for Nairobi Water Company for a duration of 10 years.
He was seeking Mukurwe-ini parliamentary seat on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
Kaguchia was running against other seven contestants in the race; incumbent Anthony Kiai (TSP), Eng Kariuki Muchemi (Jubilee), Dennis Githaiga (TND), Njururi wa Ngumbu (CCK) and Lewis Munyiri (Independent).
