Tension remains high in Olopusimorum, Narok county after rival groups engaged in violent confrontations that left four people nursing serious injuries and property worth millions of shillings destroyed.
The two groups, one in support of sitting area member of county assembly Kikaet Ole Kuyo and the other for former MCA Wilson ole Masikonde engaged in a fight in a row that saw the torching of the former MCA’s house by irate youths.
The conflict has allegedly been fueled by a dispute of the continued degradation of Kipkaget forest.
But observers say that the conservation narrative was just a trigger to anger that had been building since former MCA Wilson ole Masikonde moved to court to challenge the election of Kikaet Kuyo, a petition that was determined in his favor.
Reports indicate that supporters of the sitting MCA got agitated when a rumor went round that he has been attacked by supporters of the former MCA.
At that point, they rushed to the former MCA’s home and torched his house before police intervened.
According to area OCPD Joseph Kisombe, several people were injured in the scuffle.
It, however, a blame game between the two leaders, even as they appealed to the police to impartially investigate the matter.
