Gachagua: It’s a privilege, I will not let the Hustler Nation down

Mathira Member of Parliament Rigathi Gachagua has expressed his gratitude after being named DP William Ruto’s running mate saying he will not let him down.

“Thank you for the trust and confidence you have shown in me, it’s a privilege, I will not let you down, I will not let the hustler nation down, I will not let the people of Kenya down,” He said.

Gachagua said all those who made the shortlist were qualified for the position and any of them would have been up to the task.

“I am honoured by the responsibility and faith you have bestowed on me to be your running mate in the for the most defining election in Kenya’s history, it’s a responsibility I take pride in. From the grass thatched house, I stand here with more than 30 years of public service, I have been to and worked in every part of Kenya and understand the challenges that face our people,” He said.

He was beyond himself in joy, “This is one of the greatest days of my life, I thank God for the gift of life, good health and the favour he has shown us, without God we wouldn’t be where we are today.”

ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi was at hand to congratulate Gachagua saying he has what it takes to form a formidable partnership with DP Ruto.

“There were so many people especially on the opposite side who were praying that we’d make a mistake or anticipate a serious division. I’m sorry, that has not happened,” He said.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi who was on the shortlist said he was satisfied with the results of the process saying now that the part was over, they should roll up their sleeves in their various roles in the Alliance and ensure the economic revival message becomes the clarion in every corner of the country.

Kirinyaga , who DP Ruto described as a formidable woman leader who missed the running mate position by a whisker said they will walk with the DP and Gachagua and ensure they win the election in August.

“I pass my personal congratulatory message to Rigathi Gachagu, I will support you, we will work on mobilzing not just Mt Kenya but the entire Country to ensure DP Ruto wins the election.

Waiguru lauded DP Ruto for agreeing to set aside 50% of cabinet positions for women saying it is major step towards achieving the two-third gender rule.

“I want to thank our party leader for his patience and endurance in leading us to this process, am very confident in the choice that we have made,” She said.
