Getting your car serviced is important before going on any road trip
Road trips are the gift that keep on giving. They’re a fun way to see and go to places you’ve never been to within the country. It’s also a good option if you would rather not travel outside the country due to COVID-19. It’s as easy as gathering your fellow adventurers, splitting the fuel cost, creating a dope playlist, driving safely while observing all MOH guidelines and seeing Kenya.
You need a car for a road trip, so unless you’re hiring or leasing a car, you’ll need to make sure your car is in tiptop shape before the journey even begins. It’s advisable to get your car professionally checked or serviced. Here’s a checklist to get your car ready for the road.
Check your tyres
You’ll need to check your tyres for wear and tear. Depending on whether you’re travelling offroad or not, if possible change your tyres and get the best ones for the terrain you’re going on.
Check for air pressure, wheel configuration, proper wheel rotation and structural integrity.
Check all the fluids
Although motor oil is an important fluid in your car, there are many more fluids that your car needs to function properly. You’ll need to check your transmission fluid, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant and engine oil.
Service your car
Before embarking on your road trip take your car for a routine maintenance check. This is just to ensure that the lighting, belts, bolts, nuts and air filters are all working properly. It also helps to have a professional look over the above two if you can’t do it yourself.
Clean your car
It might seem redundant to do this especially if you’re going off-road, but it feels better to drive in a clean car. Make sure you do this after the road trip as well.
You’ll need to go through all these steps again after the road trip but for now, we wish you safe travels in your very clean and serviced car. Looking for a place to sleep? Check out these recommendations.
