Gikomba market fire guts down stalls

A raging fire that broke out in the wee hours of Friday morning has burnt down stalls in Gikomba market.

Traders have once again lost goods worth millions of shillings, barely six months after another inferno rendered traders in the market jobless.

The numerous fires in the market have now raised concern among the public as to who is responsible.

Firefighters from the Nairobi fire station and National Youth Service – NYS have been battling the inferno whose cause is yet to be established.

Interior Principal Secretary, Dr. (Eng.) Karanja Kibicho , is this afternoon at 2 pm expected to visit one of Kenya’s biggest secondhand clothes and household items market to assess the security situation.
