Gikomba traders counting losses after market catches fire

A fire erupted at Gikomba market Wednesday morning destroying property worth millions of shillings.

According to a tweet by Red Cross, it had dispatched first responders to contain the situation.

A block near the U&I Microfinance Banking hall was affected.

However, Nairobi City County fire brigade team together with the Red Cross managed to contain the fire.

No casualties have so far been reported as investigation into the cause of fire commence.

On June 28th this year, 15 people died and more than 60 others were injured after a timber and second-hand clothes shops went up in flames.

In October last year, a fire incident saw President Uhuru Kenyatta call for investigations to establish the cause of the fires.
