Kenyan Premier League Champions Gor Mahia has confirmed Hassan Oktay as their new coach on a two year deal.
The Turkish will replace Dylan Kerr, who quit the club to sign for South African Premier League side Black Leopards.
He will be deputised by Zedekiah Otieno, who took care of the team on an interim basis.
He is a Uefa ‘A’ Licensed coach and has had stints in England, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.
His immediate task is to prepare the team for the Kenyan Premier League match against Zoo FC Wednesday at the Machakos Stadium.
He will then lead the team against Lobi Stars of Nigeria for a spot in the CAF Champions’ League group stage this Sunday at the Moi International sports centre Kasarani.
Gor defeated Malawian side Nyasa Big Bullets in the preliminary stage to qualify for the first round where they will be facing the Nigerian Champions Lobi Stars who got a bye over Cameroon side UMS de Loum.
Elsewhere, The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to name the new host of the 2019 African Nations Cup finals on 9th of next month.
Caf is looking for a new venue for the continental tournament after it stripped Cameroon of the hosting rights due to lack of progress with preparations.
Interested countries have until this Friday to submit official bids to host the 24-team tournament which begins in June next year.
Despite reports of interest from Morocco and Congo-Brazzaville no-one has made an official declaration of interest to host the event.
The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) is planning a meeting with country’s sports minister Tokozile Xasa in order to make a decision on making a bid.
Xasa has expressed an interest in South Africa hosting the event for a third time but admitted she needed more details from the federation before finalising the offer.
