Gor Mahia on course for 17th KPL title

Defending champions Gor Mahia are on course for the 17th Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title after opening a 15 point gap at the helm following their three nil victory over Kariobangi Sharks in Kisumu City on Wednesday.

The win was Gor Mahia’s 17th of the season, stretching their unbeaten run to 21 matches.

Gor Mahia welcomed Kariobangi Sharks at the Moi stadium in Kisumu looking to maintain their unbeaten run in Kenya’s top flight this season.

Despite a slow start to the game, Kogalo were on their way to a 17th league win of the season when Geoffrey Shiveka scored into his own net in the 25th minute, sending the match into the break a goal ahead.

Kogalo dominated the second half of the game and Kevin Omondi guaranteed the league leaders the win when he scored the second goal in the 77th minute.

Lawrence Juma put the icing on the cake nine minutes later with a third goal, ensuring that Kogalo’s unbeaten run this season remains intact.

Gor Mahia, who face Nakumatt in their next assignment this Saturday, lead the table on 55 points, a whooping 15 points above second placed Sofapaka who have played three matches more.
