Reigning Kenya Premier league champions Gor Mahia will host Esperance of Tunisia today at 3pm in the first leg, first round of the CAF Africa Champions league at the Machakos County Stadium.
KO’galo qualified for the first round after eliminating Leones Vegeterianos of Equatorial Guinea in the preliminary round while Esperance defeated Mauritanian side ASAC Concorde.
Gor Mahia lost to Esperance 8-2 on goal aggregate in 2014, going down 3-2 at home before succumbing to a heavy 5-0 defeat away in Tunis in the return leg.
The match will be the fifth between two sides, first being in 1987 during the cup winners cup renamed Mandela cup finals.
KO’galo will miss the services of dependable defender Wellington Ochieng’ who was injured in a league match against Bandari FC.
Gor Mahia currently tops the league standings two points ahead of Mathare United from five rounds of games.
Esperance are also at the helm of the Tunisian top league, five points clear of second-placed Club Africain, with a game at hand.
