Kenya Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia have registered a third consecutive win, after a 2-1 victory away to Ulinzi Stars at the Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
The win sees K’Ogallo further extend their lead at the top of the standings to 58 points, nine ahead of second placed Sofapaka FC who were Sunday held to a 2-2 draw by Mathare United in Machakos.
Eric Ssekisambu put Gor Mahia ahead at the Afraha Stadium in less than a minute, heading in a Francis Mustafa cross to give champions a firm grip of the fixture.
Ulinzi Stars top scorer this season, Enosh Ochieng, got Ulinzi Stars back into the game with a 76th minute equalizer.
With the game looking like heading for the a draw, substitute Samuel Onyango netted the winner with four minutes left on the clock, to give Gor Mahia all three points, extending their lead on the Kenya Premier League standings to 58 points.
Sofapaka’s 2-2 draw against Mathare United Sunday at Machakos leaves the side 2nd on the log with 49 points, four ahead of Coast based Bandari FC, who have played a game less.
Kakamega Homeboyz sits fourth with 42 points following their 1-1 draw away to KCB, two ahead of Mathare United.
Tusker FC and Sony Sugar are 6th and 7th respectively but level on 38 points, while Ulinzi Stars and Kariobangi Sharks complete the top half of the table. The League resumes this Wednesday with seven matches on card.
